Did you do that on purpose?

PURPOSE: The reason for which something exists.


A few Buddhist friends have told me they get up and meditate by 5 am. My reply was "On Purpose?" Why, I thought, would anyone want to meditate that early when they could sleep a few hours more before having to get up for their day? I hit my alarm clock at least twice (honestly, more like 3 times) and groan at the beginning of the day. Then, as I started to add meditation and mindfulness to my daily practice (albeit not at 5 am), I began to understand and stopped groaning.


Why wouldn't you start your day on purpose? ON purpose. With purpose. In purpose. Having that connection to Source at the beginning of the day in silence with peace and gratitude. Slowly I begin to shift.


Instead of groaning at the thought of :

What do I HAVE to do today?

and

I HAVE to go to work in a few hours,


My mind shifts to:

What do I GET to do today

and

How CAN I support and inspire others?


When I start the day with that mindset, then I want to take the time to sit in silence and connect to my Source. To connect to the reason of my existence and the intention of the day. By connecting to my Source before the world takes my attention, I can connect to the infinite possibilities of my day.

So wake up, choose wisely, and be on purpose.
